Tradition

Some people listen to Christmas carols this day of the year. Me? I listen to the RENT soundtrack straight through. For the past fews years, I've tried to remember "no day but today", mostly without success. Hopefully 2010 is the time I get it right.

So, apparently I'm a gigantic idiot who should have been looking into GLBT places in Chicago a while ago because I just saw this at a forum I frequent: I went to the Howard Brown Health Center in Chicago today to find out about getting hormones. I just had to bring them a notarized letter stating that I'm unemployed and it was $10 and they drew blood and everything. I found out that they work on informed consent. Now I just need to see a HRT Advocate ($20) and I go back for a follow up appointment and get hormones (She said it would probably be about $70 for two months of hormones).

Umm...this is amazing and maybe, hopefully, I can get something rolling with this soon?

Fading

  • Dec. 18th, 2009 at 3:51 PM
2009 was full of good intentions, and was a pretty nice year over all. I decided I would write the highlights of the year down today. There was bad shit in 2009 too, but to the bad shit, I say "FUCK YOU AND THE HORSE YOU RODE IN ON! You don't get to be written down, so you can fade from history, and die unremembered, Koproton."

January started out with great deal of promise and a kiss on the cheek. Pretty darn fine start to the year. February brought back people and was filled with birthdays. March I had a fine birthday, and even met some lovely new people at its party. April had piratey goodness in Fetishball, as well as a great package I made. May ended the semester, and unleashed another year of friends out into the world (g-ds help us all). June had Shadowrun and martial arts goodness (I think). July brought hope for August. August brought Maine and visitors. September took me to Greece! Greece was a wonderful slice of heaven, which I had to leave. October was made of birthdays, probably our last Necronomicon, PCP, and everything else. The stuff that didn't fit in October got pushed into November with more birthdays, and dance tutorial. December is finishing up the year, and before the next year starts I hope to make a "To Do" list to fill my year with, and hopefully squeeze it all in.

What else did I do with my year:
I crafted, a lot.

I wrote letters, and filled packages.

I started carrying a cell-phone. (Shhhhh, it's a secret, and I still hate talking on the things, but sometimes it is better than nothing.)

I continue to practice drums.

I started playing on the cello again. I suck really bad, but not as bad as the average n00b.

I continue to study the martial arts, and now can play with nunchucks. Just a few more years and I can upgrade to sword-chucks.

I gained weight, but also am generally stronger. Probably going to lose weight next year, and get really scary.

I danced in dance tutorial as a pretty pink princess. If you haven't seen the video, it's on youtube: Seven Princesses and Frog Dance November 2009 NCF. I am the giant princess.

I watched WWE wrestling, and dream of having my own really silly wrestling league.

I kept up with LJ mostly, but became less and less interested in it, as it added more and more ads. Which sucks, because I vastly prefer it for interaction over facebook.

Productive?

Last night, through a combination of sorting music and realizing that I didn't want some of what I had DLed, my "music to be renamed" folder shrank from 13GB to just under 8. This makes me pleased. Still to go - Garth Brooks, Goo Goo Dolls, Hanson, Mucc, Seether, Smile Empty Soul, Velvet Acid Christ, and Yellowcard

Mmm, epic moment in Bleach

I don't generally fanboy Bleach here, but I felt like quoting some Komamura dialogue from the latest chapter because it was incredible.

Spoilers for 386 here )

Icon cleanup

  • Dec. 16th, 2009 at 12:31 AM
I didn't need the space, since I was at 109/117, but I just went through and deleted 11 icons that I can't remember the last time I used. A few links in icon interview memes from the past might be broken, but oh well? Also edited a bunch of my interests because some of them were pretty old. Maybe one day I'll put a pretty profile code in, but right now I like how it is.

Repetition is comfort

It's probably not a good thing when I listened to a song so much yesterday that it was one of the two to pop up in my dreams, is it?

On food

  • Dec. 11th, 2009 at 8:27 PM
Whenever people in the apartment are hungry, but don't know what to get for dinner, I'm the one they ask because I generally want a specific sort of food. Granted, if I'm asked, I'll answer pizza or tacos 95% of the time, so I don't know why they ask. It still makes me laugh. We had pizza last night and tasty burritos tonight. Holiday shopping tomorrow - I'm bringing my cane just in case walking gets to me.

Before tonight, I don't think I'd left the place for more than taking trash out since I had the flu...over a month ago.
